Alexina’s Ethnic Fashions & Body Piercing Studio

Alexina’s began in 1988, selling at Auckland markets before taking a shop at Southmall. The founder had lived in Indonesia and built the business around handmade pieces sourced from across Asia and Eastern Europe — ethnic clothing, body jewellery, incense and essential oils, gemstones and feng shui pieces. Stock turns over regularly, so the range is rarely the same twice.

The piercing studio came later, in 1999. It is licensed and certified by the council for sterilisation and hygiene, works with an autoclave and disposable needles only, and fits 316L surgical steel or titanium jewellery. Ear, nose and body piercing are all done in store, including gentler options for young children.
